Lavaca Public School District was recently awarded a General Improvement Fund Grant through Western Arkansas Planning and Development District, Inc. for the amount of $4262. In efforts to maintain the most secure environment possible for the students and staff in the District, funds will be used to purchase two additional electronic visitor identification systems for Lavaca Middle School and Lavaca High School, as well as, additional security cameras for use in Lavaca High School. The identification system is already being used in Lavaca Elementary School and has increased security measures within the school.
Lavaca Public Schools would like to thank Representative Charlotte V. Douglas and Senator Bryan King for their work with the Western Arkansas Planning and Development District and for their efforts to secure funding for the General Improvement Fund Grant Program. We greatly appreciate their service and dedication to education.

Public Notice

 Lavaca Public Schools participates in the Arkansas Public School Choice Act 560 of 2015. Any parent residing outside the Lavaca School District who desires to send their child to the Lavaca Schools beginning with the 2015-2016 school year may obtain an application in the superintendent’s office at 203 Fir Street, Lavaca, AR 72941. The application must be postmarked no later than May 1 of the year in which the pupil would begin the fall semester at the nonresident district.

Parents are encouraged to have the application submitted as soon as possible as the new School Choice Law has a 3% cap limitation on the number of applications that can be accepted.

Applications do not have to be resubmitted for any students currently attending Lavaca Schools under the School Choice Act. This notice is prepared in accordance with the Arkansas Public School Choice Act 560 of 2015.


Public Notice

Lavaca School District is in application for a Safe Room funded through the ​FEMA-4160-​DR-AR-Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The application is for a 4,446 square foot safe room which will safely hold 710 people to be located at the Elementary Campus. Notification of approval will not be until the winter of 2014 or early Spring of 2015. If approved, FEMA will cost share, approvable costs, at 75%; and Lavaca will be responsible for 25% or remaining.
