Mr. Logan Dooly started his music career early in 6th grade by joining the award winning Lavaca School Bands under the direction of Chase Carter. He also attended Summer band camps at Arkansas Tech, studied with Don Bailey at UAFS, and made 1st chair string bass with the Arkansas All Region/ All State Concert and Jazz Bands. He played tenor sax and tuba at Lavaca schools, took private bass lessons with Fort Smith Symphony bassist Brandon Patterson, and attended after school orchestra lessons in Greenwood.
During college Mr. Dooly studied upright bass with the University of North Texas classical bass teacher Kate Jones under the Jeff Bradetich pedagogy, while receiving his undergraduate degree in music education at Henderson State University. There, he studied and performed with Arkansas Symphony Members such as Barron Weir and Rick Dimond.
Mr. Dooly has been the Head Band Director/Music teacher at LHS since 2014 and completed a Masters in Jazz Studies degree at the University of Arkansas in Monticello in 2019, where he studied and transcribed jazz, blues, latin, and award winning songs of the 20th century from music educators Les Pack and Steve Holley.
Mr. Dooly is married to his wife Amber and they have two boys, August and Ezra. GO BAND & GO ARROWS!
