Personal Background:
Dr. Owen has a passion for learning and growing. There are very few years of her adult life that she has not been enrolled in college coursework, an educational leadership academy, or a math and science institute. She and Tim, husband of 30 years, have two children together. Dylan is a senior at Arkansas Tech University where he is majoring in music education and is a member of the Tech Band. Julia is a senior at LHS and is a cheerleader along with being involved in the choir, band, Beta Club, FCCLA, FBLA, TSA, FCA, G/T, and quiz bowl. She plans to major in computer science education after high school. This stage of life allows the Owen family to travel the state keeping up with the Golden Arrows and the Tech Band. During vacation time from all things school related, we enjoy traveling with family and friends.
Welcome from the Principal
Dear Families:
Thank you for visiting the high school webpage. Lavaca High School (LHS) is dedicated to education for all students. The high school years are a very important time for students as they experience opportunities that prepare them for life. Academics is my priority and the curriculum in high school is very challenging. In addition to a rigorous curriculum, the impact and enrichment provided to students by clubs, organizations, fine arts, and athletics cannot be understated. Both academics and extra-curricular involvement are vital to a balanced, rewarding high school experience.
At LHS, students are challenged to carefully consider his or her goals for the future and make wise decisions concerning courses taken and extra-curricular participation. Goal setting paves the way for future success after graduation. Aligning with the district’s vision of having hands and hearts of service, students successfully complete community service hours while attending LHS. My belief is that giving back to the community is key to developing model citizens that will lead our community and country in the future.
As you are visiting the high school webpages, if questions arise at any point, please reach out to the high school counselor or myself and we will be glad to help you.
Sincerely,
Felicia Owen, Ed.D.
