Welcome Lavaca High School students and parents!   I am Steve Moody, counselor at Lavaca High School. Prior to my job as a counselor, I was the girls’ basketball coach for both the Jr. High and Sr. High teams. 

As a High School Counselor, I perform the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, and personal/social/emotional domains:

• Individual counseling

• Small group counseling

• Large group counseling

• Attend and participate in academic intervention meetings

• Organize and administer building testing

• Observe students in various school environments

• Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, social workers, and student

• Respond to school crises or emergency situations

• Provide information and resources to students and parents on a variety of issues

• Class scheduling 

• Scholarship information dissemination

• Organize college and career days

• Senior college paperwork preparation
